Dressing to impress… Celebrate in style at the EIT Awards

We know a great perk of being in the tech field is that everyday workplace attire is typically casual or business casual. Since an event like the Excellence in Technology Awards is out of the ordinary, we want to share some helpful tips and more information on recommended dress. After all, we don’t want you to be like Kyle Finnegan who was featured in The Onion’s story “Area Man Under Impression He Got Dressed Up.”

The event’s registration page includes: Please note the recommended dress is semi-formal attire. Semi-formal can be described as an outfit that is dressier than what you would wear on a normal day at the office but not as dressy as a formal evening gown or tuxedo. Semi-formal attire is often worn to weddings, dinner parties, corporate events, and fine restaurants.

You may still have questions. I have answers!

  • Are jeans okay? Typically, not recommended.

  • How about my work polo? No

  • Do I need to wear a suit jacket and/or tie? It’s not required, but those items are commonly worn to semi-formal events. See various examples and combinations below.

  • Should I wear sneakers, even if paired with a suit? Typically, not recommended.

  • Do I need to wear a formal ball/evening gown? No

  • Should I wear my nametag? It’s up to you.

  • Can I see semi-formal examples? See below.

  • Will my photo be taken? Most likely, yes! There is a photo backdrop upon entering during the cocktail hour with a professional photographer. Photos will also be taken throughout the event.
